The Ohio University Performing Arts Series & Stuart's Opera House proudly present an evening with Nickel Creek. This performance will take place at the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium on the Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio.

Nickel Creek, a post-modern bluegrass trio from California, melts the raw sound of a mandolin, fiddle and acoustic guitar to create music that is both visceral and virtuosic. Dancing between the twin auras of the contemporary and the timeless, this edgy ensemble offers a refreshingly innovative twist on conventional bluegrass. Their unapologetically honest album Why Should the Fire Die? was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Contemporary Folk category and their subtly evocative song "Scotch and Chocolate" for Best Country Instrumental. Peppering each show with classical, jazz, rock and pop influences, Nickel Creek casts a hypnotic spell on audiences of all ages and interests.

Single tickets go on sale August 17, 2006 at noon.
